Finally!

I'm finally starting to feel almost like a runner again. I just finished a 5 miler in 38:46. At 7:45 per mile, it is the first run of any notable length that I did in sub-8's. Ok, to clarify, that's the first run AFTER my knee injury that I sustained that pace. I started out a little hot, but was feeling good, so I tried to keep it up. The last half was a bit of a struggle. But it was a struggle in the lungs, not the legs, and that's fixable. Apparently, the 2 days of what we'll call "carbo-loading" was all I needed to get over the hump. More thanks to beer! Now I need to start focusing on getting more miles in. Despite a couple of back to back 25 mile weeks earlier, I'm still averaging probably 20 miles a week. I need to get that up to at least 30 sometime soon.

But for now, I'm off to throw some homemade cheddar bacon Jucy Lucies on the grill. I do believe I've earned it today :P
