A group of us went to the Fine Line downtown last night. They were
having a benefit to raise money for a girl who had cancer. My buddy
Brian went to college with one of her friends. They had a silent
auction, and, long story short, I now have a Garfield costume.

Finished!
Marathon. Over. It took me 5 hours, but I did it. I finally ran a marathon. The GO! St. Louis Marathon. First of all, I would like to give a big thanks to Todd and his fiancée, Lori for having us at their house for the weekend. Big thanks to my parents for flying down to support all of us running (My sister, her husband, and I ran the full, and Holly, Todd and Chad ran the half). Also, a big thanks to Holly, Chad, and Todd for waiting around after finishing the half to support me on the home stretch.
Now... as for running a marathon... wow, that was painful. I don't think I can completely articulate how much pain I was in for last couple of miles. But on the flip side, I don't think I can explain just how much joy that comes with finally crossing the finishing line. Now, the first stage of training for TCM... recovery ;)

Marathon Weekend Day 1
We left Minneapolis shortly before 5:00 last night. I felt like I was
as prepared as I was going to get. I packed clothes for any possible
weather condition. I bought a nice little case for the GPS unit. I
had all the addresses stored in the iPhone. In Iowa City last night,
while sipping (we'll call it "sipping") a martini, I realized that I
forgot my shoes. I'm a freakin' genius sometimes. Weekend is off to
a great start. And I'm hung over -- too much sipping, I suppose.
Thanks to the helpful salesman at Running Wild in in Iowa City who
hooked me up with a new pair of Brooks.

Friday Commute
So this is what happened last Friday... Driver of big ass SUV tries to cut in line to take the exit, and hits 5 other cars in the process, killing an child. But, driver of big ass SUV has no injuries. This apparently happened one minute after I got on the freeway at the on ramp right before this. I was pissed that I was stuck on the freeway for over an hour. Now I just feel bad for the parents of this child, one of whom is still in critical condition.
